Young Warriors – age cheats?

Young Warriors coach Phillip Mbofana this week said the allegations rocked his side ahead of the tournament in which they will play hosts South Africa, as well as Botswana and Mozambique in the group stage. The allegations have disturbed us a lot. The authorities were supposed to investigate the

issue well before we were in camp. The youngsters are shaken by the developments. Im not saying they are guilty but the timing appears to me wrong, fumed Mbofana.

But Zimbabwe Football Association (Zifa) board member for development Remigio Makoni, who was the head of delegation said he was determined to go with a clean side.

The issue about age cheating has been dragging our football backward and we are determined to stamp it out. We are still carrying out investigations but we are sure to bring to book two or more culprits. How are we going to develop as a nation when we continue to cheat?

Zimbabwe is not expected to go beyond the group stage in the competition.
