Young Warriors struggle in SA

BY SPORTS CORRESPONDENT DURBAN - The Zimbabwe Under-20 soccer team was facing exit at the Vodacom Youth Championships here after posting two draws in their matches by the time of going to press. The Young Warriors winners of the tournament twice in the past drew 1-1 with defending champion

s and hosts South Africa in their opening match before playing a goalless affair with little fancied Botswana on Monday afternoon.

The results are not surprising as their preparations were marred by allegations of age cheating, which resulted in three Premier Soccer League players being ejected from camp on suspicion that they were over age.
To make matters worse, the Young Warriors captain Onismo Bhasera, who now turns out for South African Premiership side Maritzburg Classic, was not released by his club although the tournament is taking part in the same city in which his club is based.

Only group winners qualify for the quarter-finals. Zimbabwe are in the same group as Amajita of South Africa, Botswana and Mozambique. They were scheduled to play Mozambique yesterday.
