Mwaruwari moves to UK

PORTSMOUTH - A fee of 4.1 million Pounds has reportedly been brokered between Pompey, backed by new multi-millionaire joint-owner Alexandre Gaydamak, and French side Auxerre to land Zimbabwe striker Benjani Mwaruwari. It is understood Mwaruwari, 27, was also being chased by Wigan and French outfi

t Marseille. Capped 26 times by his country, he proved a reasonable success at Auxerre, scoring 19 goals in 72 matches since moving from Swiss side Grasshoppers Zurich in 2002.

But he fell out of favour with new manager Guy Roux, who took over from Jacques Santini in June last year, and was soon made surplus to requirements.
