Information is power

Calling all Zimbabweans and friends of Zimbabwe

A massive international market research exercise is launched this week as part of a project to further develop the only independent, international newspaper focussing on Zi

mbabwe – The Zimbabwean. This 28-page compact newspaper is published simultaneously in London and Johannesburg (and on the internet) every Thursday and distributed throughout the world.

The paper is edited by Wilf Mbanga, founding Chief Executive of Associated Newspapers of Zimbabwe, the publishers of The Daily News (shut down by the government in 2003 under the terms of the Zimbabwe Access to Information and Protection of Privacy Act – AIPPA.)

Journalists, friends and citizen reports around the world continue to give their services on a voluntary basis to keep the paper supplied with a steady flow of news, photographs, opinion and analysis. The paper is produced and distributed entirely through the efforts of Wilf and Trish Mbanga, based in the UK, with a small band of volunteers.

The research project aims to conduct a professional, wide-ranging market survey in order to develop and expand the reach and influence of The Zimbabwean and to ensure that it continues to satisfy the dynamic needs of its readers and advertisers.

You are all invited to take part in this vital exercise through the market research questionnaire. Please see https://www.thezimbabwean.co.uk/ for the market research questionnaire and, if you have not seen the newspaper yet, you are invited to request a free copy through the website (or email: feedback@thezimbabwean.co.uk)

Thomson Foundation consultant, Julie McCreadie, is assisting with this project, with financial backing from Press Now, a Dutch organisation that supports independent media around the world.
