Mutisi races to recover

HARARE Gunners captain, Trymore Mutisi, is in a race against time to get fit for his sides imminent clash against former African Champions Al-Ahly.

Mtisi, who is on crutches, sat out of his clubs 4-0 win over FC Mafunzo of Zanzibar at Rufaro on Sunday because of a toe injury sustained in the teams 2-1 first leg victory in the preliminary round in Tanzania. And now is battling to recover in time for the clash against the Egyptians. It was disappointing to watch from the sidelines, but I am happy that we won.

Its painful that I might miss most of the games in this campaign because of injury. Definitely I will miss the first leg against Al Ahly but I am sure I can play in the second leg in April.

Every player wants to play in a competition like this so I am hoping to recover in time for the second leg, said Mutisi. Team doctor Alec Nyanhete, however, told The Zimbabwean that Mutisi could be out of action for a month because of the injury. The Zimbabwe champions secured a berth in the first round of the African Champions League in which they meet easily the most decorated team in African Club competition.
