Junior athletics on the move

HARARE - Tinashe Mutanga and Sithulisiwe Zhou, bright prospects in Zimbabwean athletics, have qualified for the world Youth Olympic Games.


The young athletes made the cut to the final team of 87 athletes from Africa, who have been selected by the Confederation of African Athletics (CAA) at the global showcase.

Mutanga and Zhou were in the Zimbabwe team that won 10 gold medals at the CAA Southern Region and 2010 Youth Olympic Games Qualifiers last month.

Meanwhile, four athletes have booked their places at the 13th IAAF World Junior Championships, that are pencilled in to take place in Canada from 19 July to 25 July. These are Lionel Mungwari (100m); Tinashe Mutanga (100m); Paul Madzivire (long jump); Faithful Goremusandu (800m).
