And Zimbabwe’s other representatives in the Champions League, Motor Action who won the league title at the expense of Dynamos, have already grabbed three players.

Newly appointed Dynamos coach Lloyd Mutasa, who joined DeMbare from Kiglon last week as a replacement for Elvis Chiweshe who quit in a huff, named defenders Thomas Magorimbo, Dominic Benato and Gift Bello in his 23-man squad.

He also signed Kiglon’s exciting youth international Denver Mukamba and midfielder Devon Chafa.

Mutasa, who is assisted by Masimba Dinyero and Callisto Pasuwa, retained the rest of the players that played in the African Champions League last year in which they reached the group stages save for Eddie Mashiri, Brighton Tuwaya, Wonder Sithole and Nicholas Alifandika.

Free-scoring winger Benjamin Marere and experienced goalkeeper Washington Arubi, who had been linked with a move to Black Mambas, were also retained. Veteran midfielder Desmond Maringwa was also registered. “These are the 23 players that we have registered so far but we are hoping to have other two players to add onto this list,” said assistant coach Masimba Dinyero.

Dynamos will not play in the preliminary round after getting a bye into the first round based on their previous performances in the tournament. They are rated the 12th best team on the continent by the Confederation of African Football.
