Cops evicted, dumped in rain … for “supporting MDC”

Sources at the depot said that the depot commandant, Assistant Commissioner Grace Ndebele, moved swiftly to contain simmering discontent among her juniors by ordering them to leave their accommodation.

“A notice was put at the depot advising the police officers to leave by June 1. When they did not they were ejected by force. The police officers are supposed to stay at Morris Depot,” said a policeman who cannot be identified.

Contacted for comment police Harare spokesperson, inspector James Sabau, could not confirm or deny the matter.

“You do not expect me to confirm that police officers have been removed. Write what they have told you,” he said.

When asked how long should a police officer resident at the depot Sabau said, “I don’t know. That is administrative it has nothing to do with papers”.
