The minister said there has been an influx of substandard ICT products being imported from developed nations.

The minister’s statements comes after a public outcry that some technologically advanced countries from Asia were producing substandard and counterfeit ICT materials such as laptops and cell phones and dumping them in the country.

“The government is aware of poor quality ICT materials and equipment which is being imported from technologically advanced countries and dumped in developing nations. We are very conscious about those developments and we will soon introduce an ICT Bill which will regulate the importation of ICT goods in the country. We are handling the matter with a sense of urgency,” said Chamisa.

He added that developing nations must not be used as dumping ground by technologically advanced countries.
