In a notice recently dispatched by Geshom Pasi, ZIMRA Commissioner General, it is noted that tax clearance certificates are issued only by ZIMRA to clients who meet the requirements. They are also issued free of charge.

“The Authority hereby warns the public against such fraudsters since no other person is allowed to issue these certificates except ZIMRA. All persons who are caught fraudulently issuing certificates will be prosecuted.

Clients found with fraudulently issued certificates will also be prosecuted,” the Commissioner warned.

ZIMRA has also urged the public to report those responsible for issuing the fraudulent documents.

Those in possession of certificates who are unsure as to whether they are genuine, should visit the ZIMRA website.
