Chipembere Queens axe executive

Women premier soccer league outfit, Chipembere Queens, has disbanded its executive in a moves aimed at reviving the club’s waning fortunes.

They currently anchor the 10-team league, with only one point in seven matches. Amidu Sosala has been replaced as chairperson by Wellington Ngulube, with Brightwell kadenga becoming club secretary and Ishmael Tasara coming in as the new treasurer.

The Gweru-based side has failed to assert themselves in the national league despite having lethal Mighty Warriors, striker Tsitsi Mairos and the immense talent of players from Matinunura High School, who came fourth at the recent Coca-Cola finals.

Sources told The Zimbabwean that the disbanded executive had failed players by ignoring their general welfare. “At one time we had players collapsing during games because they had no refreshments. This did not go down well with stakeholders, who have pulled the trigger,” said one source.
