My Best Defence Partnership
Alongside Melusi Nkiwane, Dumisani Nyoni and Alexander Maseko, every game I played at Highlanders was enjoyable. We were water-tight and strikers struggled to penetrate us. We won many trophies.
My Best Goal
I still cherish a penalty I scored against Black Aces in a Zifa Cup quarter final match at Barbourfields in 1992. We won that match 4-3 on penalties, after Mercedes Sibanda, Dumisani Nyoni and Lazurus Mwambopo had also scored.
My Best Coaches
Roy Barreto was the best in my career at Highlanders. He was motivator with him we controlled Zimbabwean football and won a number of trophies. German-born Reinhard Fabisch was also great tactician and remains one coach who put our football in the limelight. Barry Dhaka instilled the winning mentality, while Ali ‘Baba’ Dube is an icon in junior coaching.
Best Strikers I met
Former Dynamos striker Gift ‘Ghetto’ Mpariwa gave me all sorts of problems. He was lightning-quick. Black Aces’ former ace striker, Wilfred ‘Silver Fox’ Mugeyi was tough, strong and unpredictable.
My Best Stadium
Bulawayo’s Luveve Stadium. Opponents complained found it very tough to play on, and that was advantageous as it suited my style of play.
My Best Zimbabwean players
I have two shining ones. Moses ‘Bambo’ Chunga was a world-class player with unbelievable skill, while Peter “Nsukuzonke” Ndlovu was a machine.
