M-Net Africa MD Biola Alabi said the two were chosen because of their experience and passion for the African entertainment scene that makes them unique ambassadors for the event. They are believed to be capable of successfully engaging television viewers in 47 African countries and invited guests at the EKO Exhibition Centre where the AMVCAs will be held.
Vimbai, who is now the co-host of hot celeb and showbiz programme StarGist, first shot to fame on her appearance in the BBA before trying modelling and music. The reality television show star immediately posted on her Facebook page the latest developments.
“I am the official co-host for the AfricaMagic Viewers’ Choice Awards with Big Brother’s IK! My God is too kind!” she said.
The AMVCA will feature several special categories in which viewers will decide the winners directly, alongside several professionally judged categories. In total, 28 awards in 26 categories will be awarded ranging from acting and directing to script-writing and cinematography. The awards will be handed out at two separate events in Lagos.
