Cheetahs in camp for Hong Kong 7s Tournament

The Famous Grouse Cheetahs, go into camp today to prepare for the Hong Kong 7s which starts on Friday 28th March. The tournament is the qualifying tournament for core status on the IRB 7s World Series.

The Zimbabwe team will take a number of positives after finishing in 2nd place in the recently held Zimbabwe Invitational 7s Tournament. The Famous Grouse Cheetahs lost to the South African 7s side 21-15 in a pulsating final at Harare Sports Club on Saturday night, but will be buoyed after convincing wins over Georgia, Hong Kong and Russia in the tournament.

The tournament was broadcast on ZBC and will be aired on Supersport six times, with the first production being on Friday evening at 6.30pm.

Despite having finished in 6th place, the Goshawks (Zimbabwe's development side) were able to provide much needed game time to a number of players. A number of these players have been included in the training squad that will be held at the Innovate High Performance Centre. 19 players will train this week before the Zimbabwe Rugby selection committee chose their final 12 players for the Hong Kong tournament on Friday.
