Am I pregnant?

Dear Aunty Lisa

Is it possible for a woman to miss three consecutive menstruation periods without pregnancy? If yes, what causes that? – Troubled

Dear Troubled

Yes it is possible to go for about three months without your menstrual circle. There are various factors that come into play. It is common in people with fibroids because their system sometimes treats them as a foetus in the stomach. It is, however, not necessarily the case always. The situations vary with different women.

Some may miss their periods simply because they have moved to a different environment where their system becomes tight and uncomfortable before adjusting. Our systems sometimes behave like a little baby who holds back when in a different environment with new faces, but later on blends in.

Others are affected by a change of diet and also the type of contraception used. There are some types of contraceptive pills that work normally for some women and spark a bad reaction in others. So you need to study the changes you have had in the past three months to find out what it is affecting you. Visit your doctor who is able to help you find out either by running some tests or simply eliminating some foods before discovering the cause. – Aunty Lisa
