Zimbabwe loses first Test

The Zimbabwe cricket team's woes continued after they lost their first test of their tour to Bangladesh by three wickets at the National Cricket Stadium in Bangladesh.

The Zimbabweans were dismissed for only 114 against the only team they are expected to beat in international cricket

It was Taijul Islam who produced a man of the match performance taking eight wickets for 39, the best bowling figures in Bangladesh history.

In fact, batting was the biggest letdown for Zimbabwe as once again opener Vusi Sibanda went out for only 14.

But worse off was Hamilton Masakadza and Regis Chakabva who could only contribute 10 runs each.

Although Sikandar Raza weighed in with 25 and captain Brendan Taylor was unbeaten at 45 that was not enough to set up a respectable tatget.

Obviously, defending 101 would have written the history books and Zimbabwe began with the best possible start, taking thrre wickets with no run recorded.

But Mahmudulla and Shaikh All Hassan shared a 45 run partnership before Mushfir Rahim came in with 23 runs to ensure Bangladesh registered their first win in 14 matches across all the facets of cricket.

The two teams now head for Khulna for the second test which starts on Monday at the Sheikh Nasrt Stadium.
