Cricket women’s team on tour

The Zimbabwe Under 19 women’s cricket team will depart on Thursday for Botswana where they will take part in a four nation tournament that begins Friday.

cricket_batThe Zimbabweans will join Mozambique, Namibia and the hosts in the tournament that will see the four sides play 40-over matches against each other in a round-robin format The team that finishes top of the table will win the tournament.
The squad is boosted by the availability of national team players like Audrey Mazvishaya, Josephine Nkomo, Modester Mupachikwa, Anesu Mushangwe and Nomatter Mutasa.
“We are excited to take part in this competition as we are giving exposure to our feeder team to prepare them for when they make the national squad,”said women’s cricket coordinator Caroline Nyamande.
The under-19 women’ssquad held a week-long training camp over the past two weeks together with the senior national women’s squad, and are continuing with preparations until they leave for the extravaganza.
