The above is the list of the top ten men taking part in the national chess championships for 2016.

International master Rodwell Makoto have so fa played 3 games and has to win all the remaining games if he is set to defend the title. Today the men play 3 rounds and he is going to play against Spencer Masango who lost to Sheperd Mubaiwa and former National Champion Emerald Mushore in round 5.Today is the epic day for the Nationals as the deciders will be played so as to come up with the clear leader.Makoto was shocked by Zhemba Zhemusse before suffering another loss to Dion Moyo who seems to be playing very well in this tourney.However Makoto had to settle for a draw against his former teammate Elisha Chimbamu in the first round of the day that is round three. Meanwhile in the Candidates section Hamilton Mandeya and and Emmanuel Harahwa drew their round 5 game on board one. Mandeya defeated Lewis Kahoba in an interesting game which Kahoba was under immense time pressure. The games will be finished on the 9th of August.More news to follow.
