Renamo sets fire to health centre in Morrumbala

Maputo (AIM) – Gunmen from Mozambique’s opposition party Renamo on Friday morning attacked the town of Morrumbala in the central province of Zambezia.

RENAMO1During the attack, the town’s health centre was vandalised and set on fire after the gunmen had stolen medicines and other material. The home of the district administrator was also damaged in the assault.

According to Morrumbala district administrator Pedro Sapange, the gang also set fire to a police vehicle and freed prisoners from the police cells.

Sapange added that things are now returning to normal in the town.
