Mabvuku High chess club successfully defends 2016 League Championship

Mabvuku high school successfully defended the chess league which they won in 2015. The team won 10 games, drawing 2 and losing 2 games as well. The team defeated among the teams like Prince Edward school in both fixtures, St. Georges college, Goromonzi, St. Ignatius, Mazowe High school in both fixtures 5,5-0,5 and 6-0 respectively while and ZRP Boarding school lraw was against ost 5-1 and 6-0 respectively.

chess2Goromonzi and St. Ignatius managed to get away with some draws against Mabvuku high school in some pulsating encounters. However the team lost to Mufakose 2 High school narrowly losing 3,5-2,5 in both fixtures. The team failed to hold on while one of the key players Trevor Macheka was not there in both fixtures. Mufakose 2 High school won 7 games lost 1 and drew 3 games against Prince Edward school andGoromonzi respectively.
They drew both fixtures against Prince Edward while the third draw was against Goromonzi. Mufakose 2 High school was a close second position and behind on third position was Goromonzi followed by Prince Edward school.St.Ignatius school came fifth and ZRP Boarding came 6th. Mazowe came 7th while St.Georges college came 8th out of the 8 teams in Division one.
However some teams like Mazowe high school failed to fulfill most of their fixtures and the team ended up being suspended for the failure to play the required fixtures. Highfield 2  High school and Prince Edward B team were promoted from division 2 to division one.
HASCA will host a chess festival for teams on the 26th of November at Churchill High school, the tourney starts at 0800 hours in the morning. For registration you can do so by confirming your participation to Mrs Gandidzanwa and Mr Mambodza. A team will be composed of four players, it will be open to both Primary and secondary schools. Harare will have players representing the Nation in the Africa schools Individuals to be held in Lusaka , Zambia from the 10th-18th December. WCM Kundai Murinda, Roy Mwadzura,, Panashe Chimbwanda whose rating jumped to the 1700s after an impressive show in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, Kudakwashe Zimbowa will also be representing us in the under 15 boys category, so is Brendon Jobe of Zengeza 3 High school.The boys and girls have talent which needs to be untapped.
Farai Hamandishe who failed to travel to Port Elizabeth due to financial constraints needs our support and if given an opportunity he can make the grade in Lusaka. He is one of our medal hopefuls. Roy Mwadzura cannot be ruled out as he is capable of making some upsets on the checkered board. Our team can bring some glory if we support them. We also have players from as far as Plumtree at Usher High school that is Pumuzile Moyo and another sleeping giant Anotidaishe Kufa from CBC in Bulawayo and also another young girl from Mash Central by the name Panashe Zimbili who is also capable of causing some upsets as she defeated all her opponents during the selection tournament which was held in Mat South at Matobo High school.
Hoping to get the best from the above mentioned players and many more as they represent the country at Junior level. Meanwhile in America the defending World Champion Magnus Carlsen ids battling it out against Gergei Karjakan of Russia and so far  they drew the first two games played.
