Zimbabwe’s new President Emmerson Mnangagwa has announced

President Emmerson Mnangagwa has already allegedly indicated that he is desperate to please his political godfather, Robert Mugabe by the promulgation of the latter’ s birthday as a public holiday.

In an advisory statement to Mnangagwa, National People’s Party(NPP) Spokesperson, Jeffryson Chitando urged the President to concentrate on nation building programmes and processes.

“Congratulations to Zimbabwe’s new President Emmerson Mnangagwa who was sworn in last week.

However his first major change was the promulgation of February 21 as a national holiday.

What a mockery in a country where the unemployment rate is pegged at 90%. What do vendors stand to benefit if they leave their stalls unattended on the said date?

Mnangagwa should have chosen to appease his godfather on his own .

He should not drag us into holidays that do not benefit us.This is a clear attempt to hero worship Mugabe.

Mr President we need economic reforms not these hero worshiping tendencies.

Remember Mugabe is responsible for our suffering and unemployment.

We need answers on how Ziscosteel and Zimasco will be revived. We need policies that will bring an end to our poverty,” said Chitando.
