Within a short space of time, her company has managed to offer the corporate sector conference facilities, serviced offices and cost-effective catering solutions. As a result of her unwavering commitment to t hard work, Mabena was voted the 2011 Bulawayo Megafest female Entrepreneur of the year.

Megafest Business Awards are awarded to organisations and individuals that have brands which have excelled during the year.

“I am excited to be nominated the Megafest Female Entrepreneur of the year. I think this award will definitely go a long way in motivating myself and my staff to work even harder to improve the centre. Obviously this honour has put me and my organisation on the limelight and we need to maintain and even increase our standards,” said Mabena in a recent interview.

She attributed her success to her husband, clients and workers whom she said had all been very supportive since the centre’s inception in 2004.

“I founded the centre from humble beginnings. We now have conference rooms which can accommodate up to 100 people for a variety of functions,” said Mabena.

The centre recently launched a new concept known as Virtual Offices, which provides custodial and administrative services to business people at affordable prices.

“We realised that today’s business person is highly mobile. We therefore created a facility where business people can work outside their normal offices in a relaxed environment while mingling with fellow business people. This environment will obviously lead to lucrative business opportunities and relationships being created,” she explained.

Mabena urged female entrepreneurs to believe in themselves and be able to develop strong businesses.

“I am appealing to all female business people not to have a grasshopper mentality. All people are equal and given the same opportunities women entrepreneurs can do even better than men,” she added.
