BUT, the big question is:
Are we ready? Are we ready to vote in 2008? Are we ready to return to Zimbabwe next year or the year after because make no mistake about it; it does appear that the end game has just begun. Next year’s watershed elections will be held under the SADC minimum conditions governing elections. This means whoever wins the presidential election will earn legitimacy and attract re-engagement by the international community. This means Zimbabwean refugees and asylum seekers all over the globe will rightfully return home to rebuild their country using the skills and expertise that they have acquired over the years whilst in exile. What incentives would you like to see packaged to help you and your family to resettle back in Zimbabwe? Â
This is a wake up call to all of us including our extended families in Zimbabwe to rethink and carefully evaluate our electoral choices ahead of the 2008 elections. WE SHOULD NEVER REPEAT THE MISTAKE WE MADE IN 1980 WHEN A MOMENT OF HYSTERIA AND EUPHORIA ON OUR PART GAVE BIRTH TO THE PRESENT TYRANNY OF ROBERT MUGABE. Be careful this time around!!. Obey your conscience. Believe in yourself. Refuse to be swayed by mob psychology. Refuse to be bought!! You are not a cheap commodity. Ask yourself if you are doing the right thing for yourself, your children and future generations.  STUDY CAREFULLY THE LEADERSHIP QUALITIES, STYLE, TALENTS, ABILITIES, POTENTIAL, LIFESTYLE, PAST AND PRESENT BEHAVIOUR OF EACH OF THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR INFORMED CHOICES. This is a huge commitment. We cannot afford to make another mistake this time.
What then are the major choices in next year’s elections?
•Do you want more of the same – that is, more misrule, more violence, strife and intolerance, economic dislocation, corruption, abject poverty and dictatorship?  OR
•Do you want a hybrid of the foregoing, that is, less misrule, less violence, strife and intolerance, less economic turmoil, less corruption, less poverty and reduced dictatorship? OR
•Do you want a complete break from this criminal logjam and tradition that has besieged and haunted our beloved motherland for over two decades? Do you choose a new beginning that restores and upholds the founding values of our liberation struggle?
If you choose enduring democracy and sustained economic progress, then welcome to your political party of choice that is ready to make a difference under the collectivist-minded leadership of Professor Arthur Mutambara. Here is why this is so.
Yes we Zimbabweans want change.
But what type of change? Is it just any change? Is it sufficient to merely get rid of Robert Mugabe? The MDC formation led by Professor Mutambara supports a coalition of all democratic forces and irrevocably commits to meaningful change that
• ushers and preserves true and unconditional democracy in self-perpetuating political, economic, socio-cultural and legal institutions ,
• recognises and celebrates the diversity of our people and commits to devolution of power to self-governing provinces,
• celebrates the founding values of our liberation struggle
•consciously advocates the equitable distribution of fertile land and national resources to all Zimbabweans,
• permanently restores economic prosperity to a globally competitive Zimbabwe and guarantees basic food like sadza / isitshwala & nyama at your table as a fundamental human right.
•brings to justice Mugabe and his gangsters for committing crimes against humanity
• builds and unlocks capacity to empower the economic well being of all Zimbabweans regardless of their place of origin, political opinion, tribe, race, gender, religion or creed.
Our MDC formation has the ambition and confidence to do things in new ways. We will strive to be different. You too can make a difference!! Make a start today. Join the party that holds the future. A Pan-Africanist party that is committed to upholding the rule of law including adhering to its own party constitution. A Pan-Africanist party that is driven by values and principles!!! Â
