Premiership Golden Boot Award winner Mushekwi off to Belgium

nyasha_mushekwiHARARE - BIG CAPS United chief striker and Premiership Golden Boot Award winner Nyasha Mushekwi (Pictured) is expected to fly out to Belgium today (Thursday) when he leaves the country for trials with Belgian outfit Germinal Beerschot.

The 22-year-old striker who finished as the third best player on the domestic scene last season after scoring an incredible 22 league goals has previously had trials with South African Premiership giants Mamelodi Sundowns but the two parties reportedly failed to agree on personal terms. And CAPS United chief executive Maxwell Mironga told The Zimbabwean that Mushekwi would attend trials with the Belgian side for two weeks. “Mushekwi is leaving for trials in Belgium tommorrow (Thursday). He will be there for two weeks.” The CAPS United marksman said he was confident of making the grade at the Belgian outfit.

“This is a great opportunity for me to play professional football. I am confident of making the grade, As you can see we are training and I am in good shape so I think I have shaken off the offseason rust,” he said after the team’s afternoon’s training session yesterday. Should Mushekwi make the grade at Beerschot CAPS United coach Lloyd Chitembwe will be short of a trusted gunman in their Confederation of African Football (CAF) Cup. Who have already started preparations for the African competition with new acqusitions such as former Eagles captain Courage Denias, Ronald Sengu, Pride Tafirenyika, Ghananians Frank Addo and Paul Donko, Audience Rundofa and Edmore Chafungamoyo will take on Mbambane Highlanders of Swaziland in the preliminary round next month. Makepekepe will be playing in their second Confederation Cup after being eliminated at the first round hurdle by Egypt’s ENPPI last year.
