In March police raided the Bulawayo Art Gallery and shut down the Gukurahundi Exhibition and arrested the artist Owen Maseko and organizer Voti Thebe. Addressing artists and human rights activists at the official opening of Radio Dialogue arts exhibitions in Bulawayo on Monday, Khupe said it was high time everybody be allowed to talk about Gukurahundi massacres.
Let the truth be told about these massacres. Police should stop arresting artists and human rights activists who talk about these massacres, said Khupe. Khupe said people of Matabeleland should unite and not be silenced by anybody on the issue of Gukurahundi.
