tom_saintfietHARARE -- The Zimbabwe Football Association are not giving up on Tom Saintfiet and are making another application for his work permit to enable him to work as Warriors coach, Radio VOP has learnt. (Pictured: Tom Saintfiet ZIFA not throwing in the towel on him)

ZIFA acting chief executive officer Jonathan Mashingaidze said they will look at what went wrong and will rectify those mistakes before launching another bid for the permit.??

Mashingaidze said there was still time for the work permit to be processed since Zimbabwe’s next serious internation match was against Mali on March 26 next year?in an African Cup of Nations Cup qualifier for the 2012 finals.??

Mashingaidze maintained that Zifa was a professional organisation adding that they had a contract with Saintlifiet which they had to honour as the coach had also pledged his commitment to Zimbabwe.??

Zifa have signed a contract with Saintfiet which entitles the coach a monthly salary of US$8 000 on top of other perks that include payment of his apartment in Germany.??

The Zifa CEO said Saintfiet was also doing his best to honour his contract which inluded that he terminate his association with the Namibian Football Associatioon and be coach of the Warriors only.

Sources have revealed that one of the reasons why Saintfiet’s application was turned down was that the coach was supposed to produce proof that he had severed his links with the Namibian Football Association.??

Zifa’s second attempt, however, is not likely to be an easy stroll as there have been resistance from some political heavyweights over the appointment of the Belgian national in favour of former football player Norman Mapeza.
