In Bulawayo, at least 20 police officers in full riot gear besieged the MDC provincial offices and ordered the meeting to disperse saying the meeting was illegal. The MDC Deputy spokesperson and MP for Bulawayo East, Hon Thabitha Khumalo expressed outrage at the disruption of the meeting saying it was an internal meeting at the MDC offices and needed no police clearance.
We were having our Party meeting at our offices, we do not need a clearance for that. We have engaged our Lawyers so that we understand if this action was constitutional, said Hon Khumalo. Similar reports were received from Kadoma where the restructuring exercise scheduled for yesterday did not take place as the police said they would not allow such a gathering.
The Midlands offices have been overwhelmed by calls from the police asking if they are holding any meetings. Just two days ago, the police arrived at the MDC Midlands North offices to see if there was any meeting, and found the premises deserted.
Meanwhile, Zanu PF thugs assaulted two MDC supporters in Mbare in the early hours of saturday. Richard Bvirindi had to be taken to hospital while the other, one Masuka was arrested and is at Matapi police station. He is yet to get medical attention.
Ever since the launch of the anti-restrictive measures by Zanu PF, its supporters have been causing a lot of havoc for the innocent citizens of Zimbabwe in a bid to silence and force people to submit to a blood thirsty, failed regime.
Together, united, winning, voting for real change!!
