UZ wins ZUSA chess tourney

University of Zimbabwe chess team won the Zimbabwe Universities Sports Games held at Chinhoyi University of Technology on the 30th of April.In the second place was NUST and in the third place was Midlands State University.

The UZ team comprised of: Fungai Mudziki, Tinashe Njagu, Simon, Chipo Gift Mubambe, Arigundiya Munyaradzi and Brilliant Chikanya.Tinashe Njagu and Chipo Mubambe had perfect scores white washing all their opponents. Our International Master Robert Gwaze played against Alexie Shirov in 2007 after he had conquered Africa.He was the first Zimbabwean to qualify for the World Cup and he will do the same this year.
