Zimwara failed to progress from the 100m semi-final heat where he finished in seventh position in a time of 10, 50 secs.
But his time was better than that of young sprinter Tinashe Mutanga, who crashed out in the other semi-final of the race after finishing in 10, 62 seconds.
Zimwara said despite the unsuccessful participation at the Maputo games, he is optimistic he will make it in South Africa next year.
“My finishing time at the all Africa Games was not bad. I am confident of making it at the Yellow Pages competitions. I am putting every effort in preparation,” said Zimwara who also plies his trade at Ziscosteel Athletics Club.
