Best of the best

Thubelihle Ncube ranks as one of Zimbabwe’s most underrated defenders, having been given little chance to shake-off the overpowering reputation of his elder brother – Thulani Biya. The Number 4 jersey he inherited from his sibling also made it worse due to the great expectations of the boots he had filled.

Undi gave me a torrid time - Thubelihle Ncube.
Undi gave me a torrid time – Thubelihle Ncube.

But he managed to make a name of his own at both Highlanders and Zimbabwe Saints, earning the respect of his peers in the process.

He gives us his best of the best.

Best player

Barcelona and Argentina winger, Lionel Messi. He is a complete footballer, very skilful and creative. Any coach would love to work with such a starlet.

Best opponent faced.

Former Caps United winger, Raymond Undi. He was fast, skilful and very creative and gave me a torrid time when we played against them.

Best goal I scored.

As a defender I did not score many, but the one I banged against Amazulu while playing for Zimbabwe Saints in 2001 remains special to me. It was the second goal in our 2-0 win.

Best Zimbabwean player.

Norman Mapeza, who played for Turkey’s Galatasary. I enjoyed his football and he had good brains for the game. Add my elder brother, Thulani who at one time captained Highlanders, the national Under-23 and the Warriors at one go.

My Best Zimbabwe 11.

Muzondiwa Mugadza, Mercedes Sibanda, Henry Mckop, Norman Mapeza, Thulani Ncube, Ronald Sibanda, Benjamin Nkonjera, Willard Khumalo, Madinda Ndlovu, Peter Ndlovu and Adam Ndlovu. This classy selection could beat any team in the world.

Best coach in the world.

Jose Mourinho of Real Madrid; He is a strategist and any player who plays under him gets winning momentum.
