Dynamos bundled out of Africa

Zimbabwe are now without a representative in African football after Dynamos were on Sunday bundled out of the Caf Confederation Cup by little-known Angolan side, Interclube.

The Zimbabweans were beaten 1-0 at the Estadio de Junho Stadium in Luanda, with Baros Manucho’s 36th minute goal making the difference.

While the Zimbabweans are going back to the drawing board to map out a strategy for next year, Interclube are through to the money spinning mini-league stage of Africa’s second tier club football.

For Dynamos, this year in African football had not promised much with the Zimbabweans getting eliminated in the second round of the Caf Confederation Cup following a massive 7-1 thumping at the hands of reigning champions, Esperance.

With their elimination from the Caf Confederation Cup Sunday, Dynamos now shift their attention to the domestic front where they are desperate to retain their league title and return to Pan African football.

Although, so far, things are looking rosy locally as the team is placed on sixth position, nine points behind the leaders with four outstanding games, the popular Harare side still have to a lot of work to do.

Dynamos have 23 points from 11 games while leaders Highlanders are on 32 points from 14 games. Shabanie Mine are in second position with 29 points from 15 games though Luke Masomere’s side are not considered championship material.
