Best of the Best – Godfrey Tamirepi, former Hwange star

My best match.

Godfrey Tamirepi.
Godfrey Tamirepi.

It was in 1989, in an encounter between Wankie FC and Highlanders. We won 3-1 and what makes it fresh in my mind is that I scored the decisive goal.

Best side I faced

Dynamos in 1998. We lost 1-7 and I still remember that Moses ‘Bambo’ Chunga scored a brace. It was our 90 minutes of hell.

Best Stadium

The best stadium in this country for me remains Bourbourfields Stadium. Everything about it is great.

My Best Striker

The person I can call my best striker during my career was Super Netsai Moyo, who played for Highlanders.

My most valuable advice

It came from the then Hwange coach, Paul Moyo, who told me that in football, a player should learn to express himself, that is if you are talented in dribbling you should do that and if comfortable in shooting at long range you also do the same.

My best sport outside football

Athletics. I just love it.

My best advice to the Warriors

The national team should simply stay focussed. That is all.
