WUA held its first annual fundraising dinner last week to raise funds for the construction of the Library and Gender Centre on its main campus in Marondera.
Founder and Vice Chancellor of the University, Hope Sadza, told The Zimbabwean that the construction of main campus would commence this year and they had a target of fundraising $300 000 to support its construction. “Progress towards the construction of this campus had been slowed down due to a lack of funding but construction will begin this year. Since we are a private institution, we depend on the student’s tuition fees which are not enough to cater for our operations,” Sadza said.
In a bid to cut production costs, WUA purchased brick moulding equipment to be used by students during their practical lessons. Bricks made during these lessons will be used for the construction of the main campus.
The University is currently based in Harare where its academic, research and administrative work is conducted.
