Coming on the heels of Panyika Pano, Mazai Adhimba, Mupata Wachidembo, Nyevero, Marabi Music and Sekuru which came in 2007, the eagerly awaited Vhura Chivharo, has eight tracks. Zulu’s musical career comes after a stint as a street photographer in the streets of Rimuka in Kadoma.
The eight track CD comes four years after his last recording. ‘Usually every new recording is different from the previous ones, and I think this one is better than all the others. It took me four years to work on it, and I am satisfied with the result,’ said Zulu.
Produced by Bothwell Nyamhondera, the album features songs that talk about people’s day to day lives and the problems they face, and opens up with the song Upenyu. As the title suggests, it touches on the luxurious lifestyles of some rich people who live on money obtained illegally or at the expense of the poor.
‘I derive my inspiration from being a complete member of society from where I come from. I feel and know what happens in society, so it is easy to write songs about people’s lives and their experiences,’ said Zulu.
