Kaukonde incites violence - MDC

MUTOKO
Controversial senior Zanu (PF) official, Ray Kaukonde last week exposed the nature of the ruling party when he tried to incite violence and intolerance against an MDC candidate.

Kaukonde, the Mashonaland East Governor, told a pathetic crowd at All Souls Mission here that MDC House of Assembly candidate for Mutoko East, Abel Samakande, and the party’s senior official in the area, David Kaseke, must be banned from entering the mission.

Samakande is poised to snatch the Mutoko East seat from long-serving Zanu

(PF) MP Olivia Muchena, who has not done anything for the constituency.

When Kaukonde visited All Souls Mission on Wednesday, he is reported to have been shocked at finding about 100 people gathered for what he hoped would be a rally, but which turned out to be a small meeting. He learnt of the exploits of Samakande and Kaseke, who have conducted a vigorous campaign swinging the electorate to back the MDC and its leader, Morgan Tsvangirai.

The Zimbabwean on Sunday arrived at All Souls Mission soon after Kaukonde’s meeting with Zanu (PF) supporters and had about his incitement. He has said Samakande and Kaseke must be barred from entering the mission and declared illegal at the premises, said one of the people who had attended the meeting.

Many villagers in the vicinity of All Souls Mission, which includes villages of Nyamakosi, Rukau, Bwanya, Nyawasha, Sasa and Chipfiko, told this paper of their waning interest in Zanu (PF).

MDC council and parliamentary candidates in the area are tipped to end the stranglehold on power by Zanu (PF,) with Morgan Tsvangirai getting massive support ahead of Robert Mugabe and Simba Makoni.
