ZIM ELECTORAL IMPASSE A CAUSE FOR CONCERN

South Africa opposition party Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) on Thursday said the delay in announce poll results in Zimbabwe is an impediment to the reconstruction of the devastated Southern Africa country and urged the authorities in Zimbabwe to make available the full and final Zimbabwean election results.

Speaking at a press conference in Johannesburg IFP Spokesperson on International Affairs Ben Skosana said The delay in announcing the election results by the ZEC in Zimbabwe

is now a cause of grave concern since no movement forward can be initiated without the final results whether it is a victory for the MDC or for ZANU-PF or a possible run-off between the parties Skosana said

He added: We urge the authorities in Zimbabwe to make available the full and final Zimbabwean election results

He said the current situation in Zimbabwe might lead to mistrust, suspicion, criminality and political lawlessness.

IFP called on political parties and civic pressure organisation to discourage their members from taking the law into their own hands and to work towards resolving this stand-off.

Meanwhile other South Africa opposition African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) expressed discontent that SADC observer missions have left Zimbabwe before the presidential elections were announced

ACDP President Kenneth Meshoe said missions have left Zimbabwe too soon and it premature to declare the elections free and fair.

The ACDP is disappointed that the SADC observer mission left Zimbabwe before the results of the president elections were announced, Meshoe said

We feel it was unwise and premature to declare the elections free, fair and credible while there continues to be so much uncertainty, he added.

ACDP President commended Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) president Morgan Tsvangirai for publicly saying that he would be willing to form a National Unity Government that would include moderate members of ZANU PF.

This is the maturity that gives us hope for the restoration of Zimbabwe; the wishes of a man who puts the people of Zimbabwe first unlike the incumbent dictator who persecuted members of the opposition and consequently rejected any government of national unity.
