The Harare/ Victoria Falls route increased by 263% to $61,5 billion from $16,9 billion. The Harare/Johannesburg route increased by 151% to $70 billion from $27,9 billion while its fuel levy was pegged at US$41.
The price of air travel is expected to rocket further as a result of the surge in the oil price, which is currently near a record high of $128 a barrel.South African Airways (SAA) has already increased its fuel charges as of last month by R223 for domestic routes, R335 for regional travel and R820,60 for all international travel excluding Hong Kong and Sao Paulo, will go up by R495,34 and R208,88 respectively.
