An estimated 300 Zimbabweans have sought refugee at South African Embassy in Harare today. The group consists of women and children. Some are MDC supporters who have been hiding at MDC headquarters, Harvest House. They fear for their lives, as many have been beaten, some had their relatives murdered, some have been terrified by murder, torture, abduction going on being perpetrated by militias, Soldiers, Police, and War Vets sponsored by Mugabe’s ZANU PF government.
One woman stood up and told the SADC Observers that, “We have come here as a last resort. We hope you can do something about our desperate situation.”
Pretoria government spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa confirmed that a group of about 300 alleged MDC supporters had sought sanctuary at the embassy. Â
South African Foreign Affairs spokesman Ronnie Mamoepa told Reuters that, “The South African government confirms that a group of about 300 alleged (opposition) MDC supporters have converged on the South African embassy in Harare … seeking refuge,”
It is reported that Embassy staff were arranging food, blankets and other basic necessities for the people.
Â
Mugabe’s ZANU PF is determined to eliminate hundreds of thousands of opposition supporters. More than 85 people have been murdered. Tens of thousands have been tortured by the State and its partisans. More than 10 000 people have been injured in the campaign of violence. In rural areas thousands of houses of people who do not support ZANU PF have been burned down.

Over the past week there have been several warnings of Genocide in Zimbabwe. The build up can be seen by the issuing of weapons to the militia and the Zanu PF youth, the hate speech and terminology used, the threats of war, and now the threat of Operation Elimination warning those who vote for President Tsvangirai “will be slain”. Â
We as the legitimate government have been targeted, since the March 29th election, under Operation Mavhoterapapi (where you cast your vote) and all our members and officials have been under siege. This has led to mass displacement of over 200,000 people, the murders (reported) of 89 and over 6000 having to seek medical attention as a result of violent beatings and torture. Many have been abducted and taken to torture camps. Few return alive. Bodies are later found in the bush. Granaries, homes and animals have been burned by so called war vets, Zanu PF militia and youth. This ensures that those members have nothing to go home to.Â
I appeal to SADC, SA and indeed the world to take a stand now, not in a weeks time, now, if we are to avoid the final stages of Genocide. Â

The Zimbabwean situation is another Rwanda. Please pray for the safety of people. Please take action, write letters to your politicians urging them to act on the genocide in Zimbabwe.Â
