ZIMBABWE national soccer team will need to pull a victory against Libya when they march into the park for their final African Nations Championship group match at Stade de la Paix today.

The Warriors have recorded two points from two stalemates against Ghana
and the Democratic Republic of Congo, leaving them with the same points
as pre-tournament favourites, Ghana.

Zimbabwe is on position three of on the table while Ghana sits on
position two by virtue of being first in alphabetical order. The best
scenario for Zimbabwe would be a win against Libya while Ghana loses or
draws against the DRC which would ensure the Warriors' passage into the
next round.

A win with a big goal margin for Zimbabwe and a win for the Black Stars
but with a narrow margin would still allow the Warriors right of
passage to the next round.

But if the Warriors fail to take their chances as they did against
Ghana and the DRC then a draw or even defeat is the most likely outcome
of today's fixture against poor Libya who anchor the table with a
single point from a goalless draw against Ghana on Wednesday.

Warriors and Dynamos goalkeeper Willard Manyatera and defenders Thomas
Sweswe, Gilbert Banda and David Kutyauripo need to be extra vigilant to
ensure the team does concede an early goal which could make victory
much harder to achieve.

Striker Phillip Marufu has done enough to justify his presence at the
championships but coach Sunday Chidzambwa must be regretting leaving
out Dynamos attacking midfielder Wonder Sthole and young Tafadzwa
Rusike who could have helped bolster his strike force that appears to
desperately lack the cutting edge.

The three goals scored by the Warriors so far, one by Ovidy Karuru and
two others by Marufu, were more the result of sloppy play by the
opposition rather than the product of creative and incisive play by
Zimbabwe's forwards.
