Magistrate dismisses freelance photojournalist's application: MISA and Rory Peck Trust offer assistance to family
Harare Magistrate, Memory Chigwaza on 24 March, 2009 dismissed an application for refusal of further remand (detention) by freelance photojournalist Shadreck Anderson Manyere.
In her ruling the Magistrate upheld the application by the State to remand (continue detaining) the accused to 30 April, 2009 on the grounds that th

Manyere who was represented by Alec Muchadehama was challenging his
continued placement on remand and the protracted delay in being brought
to trial. The dismissal of the application effectively means that
Manyere will remain in remand prison, pending the hearing of a Supreme
Court application in which he is challenging his continued detention.
Meanwhile MISA-Zimbabwe has offered food and school fees assistance to
the Manyere's family with te support of the UK based Rory Peck Trust.
Manyere's wife says the family is struggling as Shadreck was the sole
breadwinner.
