According to the latest council report issued 27 March, the department
requires at least two computers to properly carry out its functions.
Data capture is proving very difficult such that at times some
motorists get away with unpaid tickets. This section is relying on one
borrowed computer. A lot of revenue is lot as a result, reads the
council report in part.
The council said all motorists were being checked and cleared of all
outstanding tickets before renewal of vehicle licenses or issued with
new number plates.
The failure of the council to have adequate computers has also resulted
in the city authorities failing to issue residents with monthly bills.
Residents have to go and enquire about their bills at the end of each
month.

BULAWAYO -- The department of traffic at the Bulawayo City Council is using a borrowed computer a development that has seen motorists get away with traffic offences, as the computer would sometimes be unavailable.
