Zimbabwe: Reviewing the first one hundred days of the Inclusive Formation

Panelists for the 11 June discussion include four prominent Zimbabweans all with active backgrounds in civil society and governance. They are: Tendai Biti has a history as a human rights defender, played a significant role in the National Constitutional Assembly (NCA) as well as a senior and founding member of the Movement for Democratic Change. He is currently the Secretary General of the MDC-T and Minister of Finance in the Inclusive Government.

Gordon Moyo has been actively involved in civic education on issues of democracy and human rights as former director of a renowned civil society organisation, Bulawayo Agenda. He is currently Minister of State in the Prime Ministers office.

Brian Kagoro, a renowned lawyer, human rights activist and reputed political analyst is also well known for his role in the NCA as well as having headed various civil society organisations such as Zimbabwe Lawyers for Human Rights and the Crisis in Zimbabwe Coalition. He continues to play an influential role in civil society at a continental level.

Margaret Dongo is a liberation struggle veteran and former ZANU-PF Member of Parliament. She left the party in 1995 as the first independent politician in Zimbabwe to win a seat in parliament. Since then she has been an avid activist for human rights, political and womens issues.

This conversation will consider the following issues and more:
An evaluation of the Inclusive Formations performance over the first 100 days
Is the current government still committed to elections after eighteen months as stipulated by the Global Political Agreement (GPA)?
What is the likely outcome of unresolved sticking points between governing parties such as, for example, the appointments of governors?
What are the steps taken to revitalize the economy and what are the prospects for a full recovery?
How has the new dispensation impacted on human security?
