Saize told MISA-Zimbabwe on 22 July 2009 that he was taken to Mutare Central Police Stations law and order section after he had been questioned about his activities at the funeral by some alleged Zanu PF youths.
He said the police asked him about his personal details before they released him without any charges. He was questioned for about 45 minutes before being released.
Honourable Pemhenayi who was buried on 21 July 2009 was also a member of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Media, Information and Communication Technologies.

Police in Mutare on 21 July 2009 detained and questioned Mutare-based freelance photojournalist Sydney Saize while he was covering proceedings during the funeral ceremony for the Member of the House of Assembly for Mutare North Honourable Charles Pemhenayi.
