MUTARE Premier league debutants Highway collected three points after closely dispatching a determined Kiglon in a moving premier league action played at Sakubva stadium on Saturday.

The victory came after Highway fans were beginning to have their football hopes fading after an inconsistent show by the premier league new boys. Maxwell Zola Mavhuto Highway midfielder scored for the home team in the 58th minute after a defensive mix-up by Kiglon defenders.

The Kiglon devefenders failed to clear a cross from Emmanuel Silinda playing well on the left. Mavhuto took this chance and unleashed a grounder that found the target on the far right beating Ronald Mudimu in goals for Kiglon.

The goal was a relief to coach Shepherd Muradzikwa who had gone for five matches without a win after the unceremonious departure of coaches Lloyd Samaita Mutasa and Calisto Marabhundu Pasuwa.

The match was poorly attended that saw less than 200 people watching the match. In the first half it both teams displayed some neat passes in the midfield. Highway FC should have scored three goals in the first half but was completely let down by the strikers who had forgeotten their shooting boots in the changing room. Steven Sibanda was the main culprit.

In the 38th minute Romeo Kabesha playing for Highway was denied glory after his fantastic bicycle kick hit the upright post. Man of the match goalkeeper Edmore Chimhini in goals for Highway played very well as he made some spectacular saves.

In the second half, it was a midfield context that saw Kiglon Gift Zvavanhu, Mudiwa Mususa and Isaac Pitamuja passing the ball around. On the other side Highway FC were comfortable with Tofirei Sambo, Emmanuel Silinda and Maxwell Mavhuto utiulising the left side of the midfield.

After the match Muradzikwa could not hide his smile and said: I am very happy about the result. These are my first three points so naturally I am a happy man. However, I am worried about the strike force we need to improve on that.

Maxwell Jongwe Takaendesa the Kiglon coach said: The game was good. We lost to a better team. Highway FC was playing very well.
