A disabled Monomotapa who had lost their man, Daniel Zokoto, came from behind with 10 men to reduce the deficit through Asani Nhongo and Charles Chiutsa.
Zokoto was given two yellow cards in succession after Monomotapa players crowded around referee, Oswald Mukucha, having felt the man in charge had unfairly let Tsipa go unpunished after a tackle on goalkeeper, Godfrey Mangove.
With the score-line levelled at 2-all, the battle went to extra-time. It was not a walk in the park for Caps United against the 10 men opponent. As Monoz sank, they went down fighting, giving Caps United a good run for their place in the finals.
The extra time winning goals were scored by talented midfielder, Tafadzwa Rusike (penalty), Nyasha Mushekwi and Clive Mwale.
Caps United will now meet the winner of the other semi-final match between Dynamos and Njube Sundowns.
The two teams clash at Bulawayos Barbourfields stadium, this Sunday.
