Chuchu: Dynamos darling of the moment?

elvis_chuchu_chiwesheIt appears the sun is setting for the once shining relationship between Dynamos supporters and head coach, Elvis Chuchu Chiweshe. (Pictured : Elvis Chiweshe sun is setting)

Chiweshe replaced David Yogie Mandigora this year following a string of uninspiring results from his predecessor.

He won convincingly in 12 consecutive matches since his arrival last April. Criticizing the victorious coach in the presence of staunch Dynamos supporters was a serious DONT for any Zimbabwean soccer fan who wished to leave any match venue in one piece.

But the Dynamos faithful were last Sunday disgruntled with the recent performance of their team and blamed it on their beloved Chuchu. Some even suggested he should quit, while others felt the coach had been a failure from the beginning.

Chuchu has always had a weakness in substituting like Yogie; its only that he was lucky to be winning and we had no reason to complain, argued one staunch DeMbare fan in the teams Vietnam stand at the weekend.

The victory over Dynamos, in the Nestle Charity Shield final helped Lloyd Chitembwe calm down the furious Green Machine followers, leaving some with added hopes of what seemed the beginning of greener pastures for the premiership.

To the Glamour Boys supporters, a defeat at the hands of a relegation-threatened Underhill will have been water under the bridge. But the humiliation they have suffered at the hands of their rivals recently has left a deep cut so deep in their hearts.

Although Dynamos have two games in hand, hopes of reclaiming the top spot are slim, as the Harare side is scheduled to meet a stubborn Caps United and a tricky Njube Sundowns in their outstanding fixtures.

Another loss or draw for Chiweshe and his charges leaves Moses Bambo Chunga sitting comfortably at the top – as Chuchus warm relationship with his fans catches a cold.
