Unlike the Gukurahundi massacres that were confined to Midlands and Matebeleland, this time it will be from border to border. I am surprised that most of us are sleepwalking into this Zanu (PF) snare, and the international community is not interested in our plight. It has long been Zanu (PF)s strategy to hold onto power at all costs. President Robert Mugabe will not leave office unless he dies.
What has been clear all along is that as Zanu (PF)s popularity has waned, it has relied more and more on state brutality enhanced by the co-option of unelected and unelectable ministers (war marshals). It is these unelectable ministers and securocrats who are the architects of the Till Death Do Us Part strategy. They are mostly driven by the desire to protect their loot and the fear of facing justice if their party doesnt win a free and fair election.
Apart from the leaked public opinion survey, it is no secret that Zanu (PF) has also carried out its own private public opinion surveys. The revelations were dire and confirmed what we already know. Unfortunately, it is precisely this realisation that has strengthened Zanu (PF)s resolve to rely on state brutality.
Zanu (PF) will not going to go into elections knowing its going to lose. This explains why not a single by-election has taken place, despite the existence of 14 possible candidates. All of them will be eventually be won by Zanu (PF) and the same goes for the next general election. People Get Ready. The beatings and killings as a strategy for winning the next elections have already started in the remote rural areas.
People Get Ready. I have listened to the arguments in support of the GNU and the road map that includes the crafting of a people driven constitution as a milestone. In other situations with different players this would be all well and good, but we are dealing with Zanu (PF). It merely uses these arrangements to serve as a welcome detour while finalising its strategy. Zanu (PF) has not respected the current constitution and continues to violate it. Zanu (PF) has not observed and respected the spirit of the Global Political Agreement. Zanu (PF) did not respect the outcome of the constitutional referendum of 1999. I do not see how anybody can trust them.

Sometimes a song can bring back powerful memories of an event or an episode in your life. This happened to me when I was listening to Curtis Mayfields People Get Ready. The more I listen to the lyrics of the song, the more I am drawn to the plight of Zimbabweans. The song advises people to get ready because the trains are coming. These trains take people from coast
