The students normally get water ferried by United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF) trucks but these supplies can be erratic and the students then have to fetch water from unprotected sources in Chitungwiza. They spend inordinate amounts of time which should be devoted to studying, hunting for water.
SRC president, Peisai Mlhangu called on the government to intervene to ease the plight of students who are about to write their final examinations. We need water daily and we are forced to carry water from outside and that should not be the case.
Chitungwiza has not had reliable water supplies for more than two years. Rivers of sewage are the order of the day throughout the dormitory town.
