Coventry, who is one of the senior white players to mark a return to the team, this year, told The Zimbabwean, that the inclusion of experienced former players would soon yield results as a remedy to Zimbabwes past poor performance on the international arena.
Guys like Alistair (Campbell) and Heath (Streak) have played a lot of cricket and they have experience. We have learnt quite a lot from them and we are all working hard but we need to be playing more cricket before we start playing with the big teams, he said.
There is a lot of talent in the team; we have good young players like Kyle Jarvis who has been doing well with Elton (Chigumbura). If we can continue playing more games together we will definitely get there.
Coventry, 26, was Zimbabwe ‘s youngest first-class player at 15 when he played for Matabeleland in 1998 and has made headlines for his commendable record of an unbeaten 194 runs against Bangladesh , in Bulawayo, this year.
Batting in his spectacles, Coventry played for the national Under-19 team in the World Cup in 2002.
The aggressive batsman also played two Tests against India in September 2005, after the exodus of most of Zimbabwe ‘s top players.
