CHIWESHE - A senior member of the dreaded Central Intelligence Organization (CIO) has been implicated in last weeks political violence that resulted in the beating of several teachers for their patronage to MDC. Director of Special Assignments in the President’s Office, Alexander Kanengoni, is, according to villagers, behind the political violence in the area. Teachers at Jingamvura, Chaona, Chigwida, Chinehasha and Chideu were beaten and forced to leave their respective schools by Zanu (PF) supporters because ‘their’ MDC President Morgan Tsvangirai had withdrawn from the government.
According to villagers, the leader of perpetrators, Isdore Gwanzura, was using a maroon Isuzu twin cab vehicle belonging to Kanengoni to mobilize Zanu (PF) youths. Efforts to get a comment from Kanengoni were fruitless.
